SCIT ISR Summit 2017

On this coming 9th November 2017 , the SCIT ISR seminar is about to open the doors to share and promote the sense of Institutional Social Responsibility. The seminar will bring together delegates from business corporates, officials from various NGOs, the faculty and students of Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology. The learning goal was to discuss EDUCATION 'BRIDGING THE GAP FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED', which helps in guiding the role of public, non-profit, for-profit and voluntary sectors in Global Development.

One of the most powerful tools for the social and economic progress of a country is equality education.While privileged children receive international quality education,most underprivileged kids are provided with education only on paper.The aim hence,for imparting education should not only be on the numbers educated,but also on the quality of education imparted.

SPARSH FOUNDATION

Sparsh is an NGO devoted in achieving the mission of “Touching Lives and Changing Destinies.” and a common vision of reaching the unreached and the untouched in a practical way. Based out of Pune, they want to change the view of the city in terms of making the city free of drugs, prostitution and poverty. They believe that every person deserves change and improvement in their lives. Aiming to give women dignity in life and igniting self – esteem in them so that they can stand on their own. Providing hope in the hopeless situation of people who are under the addiction of drugs, bound to serve as sex slaves and mainly focusing on children who are in the sex trade or living in the slums.

IDEA FOUNDATION(Foundation for Initiatives in Development and Education for All)

It is an NGO with initiatives focused on the development of underprivileged children, youth and women. IDEA originated from the findings of a PhD study and it was conceptualized by a team of qualified and experienced social scientists and social workers, to deal with the problems in education and developmental issues of the marginalized people, realizing the need for adopting a holistic approach to minimize school dropout. IDEA started its work in a slum in 2002. Currently IDEA has its presence in 17 communities in and around Pune and 20 villages in Bhor and 6 villages in Raigad district in Maharashtra state in India reaching out to 10500 children, 3700 youth and 4500 women.

Seva Sahyog

Seva Sahyog(Service + Cooperation) Foundation aims at engaging socially conscious corporate, groups and individuals, with NGOs of matching interests. Seva Sahyog is largely a volunteer-run organisation with adequate professional staff backup and well-equipped office set up centrally located in Pune City. Seva Sahyog is powered with a unique skill set of deep understanding of grass root realities and a clear vision of the role corporate India can play to support community initiatives.

Mr. Tushar Juvekar
He is a mechanical engineer with diploma in materials management from Welingkar Institute of Management. He started his career with Bharat Gears Ltd. He quit his job for challenging social work in developmentally challenged North East India. He currently heads CSR at KPIT Technologies Ltd.

Ms. Sophia Gaikwad(Moderator)
She is presently looking after the Teaching Learning Resource Centre, of the Symbiosis International University, has been in the field of Education for the past seven years and this tenure was as an Assistant professor for students pursuing their Bachelors and Masters in Education. Her PhD is in the field of Educational Psychology, and her research work is on the theory of Multiple Intelligences.

Mr. Sujata Deshpande
NLP Master Practitioner, Proficiency in Deep Democracy & Kinesiology. Certified in Workplace Big Five & MBTI. Proficiency in Kolb's Learning Inventory, PAPI, EQ, SLT, TA. Assessor for Development Centres. Specialises in behavioural training programs like 'Thought Leadership', Self-Analysis, Change Management and training interventions designed to meet OD needs.

Mr.Anubhav Kapoor
Twenty-one years of in-house experience with consistent achievement while serving as key member and advisor to executive management, implementing strategic business growth initiatives, managing through crisis and change, and overseeing all aspects of corporate governance and the corporate legal function with global responsibilities.

Ms. Jyoti Bawane
She is an Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Education. Thirteen years of experience in teaching and conducting research. Guiding students for M.Phil. and Ph.D. Specialties: Teacher Education, On-line education. Research, Teacher competencies.

Mr. Murzaban Jal
He is Professor and Director at the Centre for Educational Studies, Indian Institute of Education, Pune. He is author of The Seductions of Karl Marx (2010), (ed.) Zoroastrianism: from Antiquity to the Modern Period (2012), The New Militants (2014), Why We Are Not Hindus (2015), What Ails India Muslims (ed. with Zaheer Ali) and Challenges for the Indian Left. He has also eighty research papers in national and international journals.
